Do you ever ask:

These are one of the most frequent questions that I get asked by my clients and my only answer to them is YES, everybody needs them in today’s times…
Today, we are exposed to a litany of toxins on a daily basis.
The foods you eat no longer contain the nutrient levels you require for optimal health for many reasons.
Fruits are covered with pesticides and polished with wax. (yes, beware of those nice shiny strawberries you buy from the traffic signals)
To complicate this further, stress and other lifestyle factors like late nights, smoking, not exercising enough are reducing our ability to absorb them well. (NO! don’t worry I won’t rant about the ill-effects of any vices 😉)
Supplements are health-boosters that can help fill in nutritional gaps and protect your body against the occasional diet slip-up. The supplements we need on a regular basis are vitamins like A, B, E and C, and minerals like selenium, calcium and zinc.
It’s equally important to know the deeper aspects of each vitamins, so here it goes:
Natural Sources: Carrots, green vegetables, eggs.
It is a powerful antioxidant which protects cells against free radicals. Great for skin and hair.
The best time to take a vitamin A supplement is after the most stressful time of the day – after a workout, after long hours of travelling.
These are – Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Pantothenic acid (B5), Pyridoxine (B6), Biotin (B7), Folic Acid (B9) and Cobalamin (B12)
Natural Sources: Whole grains, nuts, pulses, eggs, meat, cheese. Of this Vitamin B12 is found in non-veg sources, hence vegetarians need to take extra care to include this in their diet. Helps maintain good hemoglobin levels in the body.
Supplements: Becosule Capsule
Mood swings and PMS can be prevented with a good supply of vitamin B before your periods. (Though guys, I cannot fully promise you an escape from the wrath of a woman during her periods)
B vitamins should not be taken with evening meal since these release energy and will interfere with a good sleep
This is perhaps the most important B-vitamin for hair which can help tide over problems like hair loss or damaged hair even when they are in serious stages. You may need to take this in addition to your regular B-Complex pill.
Supplements: Keraglo Eva (women), Keraglo men (Men)
Natural Sources: Nuts, Whole grains, oils like sunflower, safflower, corn and soy.
It protects the heart, keeps skin young and is a powerful antioxidant.
Take it when you have eaten a lot of fried food or consumed high amounts of fat. Fat can turn toxic in our body, and Vitamin E prevents it from doing so. Viral infections, diabetes, working out increase the need for Vitamin E supplements.
Natural sources: Found in most fruits and vegetables. Since it is a water soluble vitamin, it gets depleted as our body loses water. Hence we need a fresh supply daily. It can be easily lost by cutting fruits, and more so when cut and kept in the refrigerator.
We need it because it is important for our immunity, manufactures collagen and maintains lung function.
Supplements: Limcee 500
Can be taken as a regular supplement. Its important if you have a hectic social life and very important for smokers.
Along with supplements, make sure you have a healthy well-balanced diet.
It is very important that you consult a doctor before consuming any kind of extra supplements if you suffer from any medical condition. For pregnant or breastfeeding women, it is best to stick to natural food sources unless advised differently by the doctor. Even for women who are trying to conceive, supplements must be used with caution. If you are trying to conceive, do not take Cod Liver Oil.
